Create designs in bulk with Canva Sheets
Use Bulk Create in Canva Sheets to turn rows of data into personalised designs.
This feature is available to Canva Pro, Canva Teams, Canva Education, and Canva for Nonprofits users on desktop only.
1. Prepare your data in Canva Sheets
Open your Canva Sheet and prepare the data you want to use in your designs.
- Select your range: Highlight a contiguous block of cells (e.g., A2:C10). Disjointed or empty cells won’t work.
- Make sure each column contains only one type of content, such as text or images.
- If you're using images, upload them to Canva or select images from your Canva library. Direct image URLs aren't supported.
- Note: Avoid unsupported content. Only the first media item in a cell will be used. Unsupported types will be skipped automatically.
- From the toolbar, select Actions, then choose Bulk Create.
- Review the selected data range in the side panel, then select Continue.
2. Choose a design to connect your data
Select an existing design you want to connect to your data.
If you haven't selected a design, Canva will prompt you to choose one before connecting your data.
3. Map your data to the design
Canva can automatically match data fields to elements in your design. You can review and adjust these matches before creating your designs.
- After adding your data, select Match and fill fields.
- Review the automatically matched fields in the side panel.
- To change a match, select the corresponding element in your design.
- From the toolbar, select Match data.
- Under Connect data, select the field you want to use.
- Repeat for any other fields you want to change.
Adjust your advanced settings
To customise how your designs are generated:
- Select (•••) More options next to the Create designs button.
- Under Advanced options, adjust the following settings:
- Output: Choose between one design with multiple pages or separate designs for each row of data.
- Name each page/design using: Choose how your generated pages or designs are named.
- Save in: Select a folder in Projects where your designs will be saved.
4. Preview your designs
Before generating, you can preview how each design will look with your data applied. This helps you catch issues early and avoid generating designs you don't need.
- Select Preview to see how your designs look with the data applied.
- Check that your text, images, and other elements display correctly.
- Close the preview to make any changes to your field matches or design.
5. Create your designs
When you're ready, select Create designs.
Canva will generate your designs based on the output option you've selected:
- 1 design with multiple pages: Creates one design with a separate page for each row of data.
- Individual designs: Creates a separate design for each row of data.
Note: For large or complex designs, Canva may split the output into multiple files, even if you selected 1 design with multiple pages.
6. Review your designs
Once your designs are generated, Canva adds a column beside your selected data with links to the generated designs.
Open the links to review your designs and make sure everything looks right.
Limitations to keep in mind
- Videos appear as a still frame in preview. Your generated designs will include the videos as expected.
- Some 3D elements may not display correctly in preview. Generate a test design to confirm they appear correctly.
- Media replacement in preview works only when your media comes from a Canva Sheet connected to your design.
- You must manually select your data. Disjointed or blank ranges will not work.
- Each column must contain only one type of content, such as text or images.
- Only the first media item in a cell will be used.
- Unsupported content types will be skipped. You will see a notification if this happens.
- The 300-row and 60-column limit applies only when you use the Bulk Create app. Canva Sheets do not have a specific row or column limit.
FAQs
Why don’t I see the Bulk create option?
Make sure you’ve selected at least two rows or columns with content. Disjointed selections won’t work.
Can I use a blank sheet?
Yes, just enter or paste your data. The Bulk Create option appears once there’s content.
Can I use image URLs in Bulk Create?
No. Image links won’t work. Upload your images or pick from your Canva library to use them in your design.
Why do videos appear frozen in my preview?
Previews show the first frame of videos only. Your videos will play normally in your generated designs.
Why aren't 3D elements showing in my preview?
